Night Tours at the Norman Lindsay Gallery

The Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum at Faulconbridge will hold night tours of the garden's wonderful sculptures starting in December. Norman Lindsay sculpted everything from garden pots to fountains to nudes with his typical eccentric flare and élan. Sculptor Tony Lennon who will lead the tours has been studying the history of Lindsay's sculptures since the 1990s. 'At night the garden and the illuminated sculptures take on a fantastic atmosphere which is other worldly and very Norman' said Tony. 'The works created from the 1910s to his last work before he died in 1969 are a diary of his relationships with his wife Rose and other women and his lone struggle with repressive censorship. But it's in code and that's what the tour is about breaking the code and telling his great story' he adds.

Tony's recently completed sculpture workshop in the wonderful garden was a great success with participants creating their own living sandstone orchid sculptures with one of Norman's motifs stencilled onto the stone. Linden resident Olive Young who attended the workshop said 'Last Sunday was so much fun' while Jennifer Butler Mosher added 'A great day out in the fresh air in a lovely environment, chipping and grinding and working with Blue Mountains sandstone and bush orchids, good food, good company, and a glass of bubbly to celebrate the end of the day!'
